Technical Artist

Main Responsabilities

  • Research and develop innovative visual techniques that materialize the art direction and push the visual quality bar
  • Implement those effects efficiently, in terms of production and performance
  • Contribute to art content creation in any way that is technical
  • Establish performance goals with the tech team; profile and optimize everything related to art in order to reach those goals
  • Identify and anticipate needs from artists
  • Proactively streamline workflows by identifying and developing tools and pipelines to optimize production efficiency
  • Integrate art assets; establish best practices and standards to ensure consistency and performance
  • Keep an up-to-date documentation on art pipelines and tools
  • Be a proactive liaison between art, design, and tech
  • Inspire, empower, and mentor the art team in the face of technical challenges they might encounter

Experience and qualifications

  • 3 to 5 years in a technical art position with at least one shipped game title.

Technical skills

  • Strong proficiency with 2D and 3D content creation tool (Maya ideally), including scripting
  • Strong proficiency with a game engine (Unity ideally)
  • Strong knowledge of hardware limitations
  • Strong knowledge of art production pipelines
